Jerry Cutillo's DIVERSELY FRAGILE Box Set:

Two Books and the Songs behind the Stories

A Fact‑Rooted, Fictional Chronicle of Collapse, Creation, and Rebirth.

DIVERSELY FRAGILE – Volume I: Chronicles of the Mind’s Eye is a genre‑bending, fictional yet fact‑rooted autobiography that propels the reader through two centuries of revolutions — in society, in culture, and inside one restless mind.

From the first sparks of musical obsession to the lure of politics and the shadows of drugs; from the dizzying rise to fame to crushing falls and a slow return from his own “first death,” this is the story of a life lived on the edge of collapse and creation.

On the road, Jerry Cutillo pays tribute to Jethro Tull, explores ancient Siberian shamanic secrets, crosses paths with legendary rock figures of the seventies, builds a rich discography — including a successful prog‑rock quadrilogy — and plays stages around the world, until his journey culminates in a haunting, face‑to‑face encounter in New York with the humanoid robot Ameca.

Rock Dreams & Inner Revolutions

DIVERSELY FRAGILE – Volume II: The Stories Untold  is the second volume in the duology by Jerry Cutillo. More anecdotal and lighter in tone, it lets you loosen up, crack a smile, and dive even deeper into the author's world and his time-traveling.

Half a century ago, clad in his parka and long hair, Jerry Cutillo was leaping from the bleachers at the Palasport venue in Rome for a seat in the stalls, just to admire Genesis up close. A few years later, he was on King’s Road with canary‑yellow hair, strolling alongside his punk fiancée. Turning the corner, he suddenly found himself vying for a spot at Sanremo ’83 and, in the blink of an eye, sitting with RCA agents in the business class cabin of a DC‑9 bound for Top of the Pops. Festivalbar and Discoring followed — and the stone kept rolling, never stopping.

Then his wife ran off with their son, and all that remained was a long hospital stay. “It’s over,” he whispered, but an invisible spirit lifted him up, and Jerry learned to walk for the second time.

He gathered his strength and was soon back on stage, paying homage to his mentor, Ian Anderson — spinning his flute and playing “Bourrée” balanced on one leg, echoing Anderson’s iconic stage trademark.

Life is strange: Jerry raises his beer mug for a post‑concert toast, and no sooner has he set it down than he’s headed to perform at the Cropredy Festival in England, followed by transcontinental musical adventures in Shanghai and the Siberian regions.

In 2014, Jerry Cutillo’s first literary attempt was set aside in favor of the opening album of a prog quadrilogy. OAK’s Viandanze was soon followed by the dark energy of Giordano Bruno. After an unexpected esoteric channelling, Nine Witches Under a Walnut Tree implored Jerry to give voice to their torments. He did not turn away from the call, just as he didn’t with the subsequent Lucid Dreaming and the Spectre of Nikola Tesla, bringing to life the struggles of the genius who foresaw the 21st century.

All seemed to have been predicted, but when Jerry encounters the humanoid robot Ameca, it feels as though a new chapter of his life is about to begin — with these books, in their own simplicity, heralding the end of an era and the beginning of the unknown.

A CD of Songs that Mirror the Stories and Interact with the Plot.

One man is a band; one song, all his crossroads is the natural soundtrack to these books by Jerry Cutillo.

Throughout his years in music production, listeners have often remarked on Jerry Cutillo’s tendency to create concept albums meant to be read as much as listened to. Across the long discography of his brainchild OAK, he has released several prog‑rock concept operas. Encouraged by the international response, and after half a century of making music, Jerry took on the challenge of a two‑book set designed to be listened to, merging literature with a dedicated soundtrack that grows out of his autobiography.

His fateful encounter with the Muse of music dates back to the winter of 1971—soon followed by the writing of his first song and many others thereafter. For three decades, Jerry’s crossroads in music have been represented by the acronym OAK: Oscillations Alchemy Kreativity. OAK has never been a traditional band, but rather a nucleus in constant evolution, driven by Jerry Cutillo’s dreams and vision, and by his distinctive spirit of initiative.

As he revisited his fifty‑year body of work, a vast number of songs resurfaced, each competing for a place in the story. The task felt overwhelming until a group of experts helped refine the selection.

The result is One man is a band; one song, all his crossroads, the CD of songs which accompany the two-book set DIVERSELY FRAGILE. These additional tracks are alternate versions, remixes, unreleased pieces, live recordings, and even lo‑fi but evocative demo tapes. Throughout the process, Jerry ensured that the selection remained free from marketing pressures. In an era of overproduced music and pervasive AI, he refused to discard raw or technically imperfect recordings when the spirit of the performance remained powerful. This choice highlights the authenticity of his work and the breadth of styles that evolved alongside his personal journey. Each track is a milestone, no longer ordered strictly by chronology but woven closely into the books’ narrative.

“They say, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. In this case, that would be a tough thing to do. As you go through this autobiography of a genius, you find yourself becoming part of Jerry Cutillo’s rise to fame. From the beginning, it’s easy to feel the strong upbringing from his mother, Maria, and his not-so-perfect environment. The Maestro takes us back to his youth, providing specific details about his journey into the vast world of music. From his first experiences on the other side of the stage, watching his idols perform, to his first band, you can feel the emotions as if you were right alongside him every step of the way. The ebb and flow of the stories demand your attention, making it almost impossible to put the book down. Just like his creative music, this is a must-read for all music lovers and those who enjoy taking a journey.”

- Alan Baillargeon, Music Expert and American Radio DJ

"Jerry Cutillo non ha scritto un libro. Non ha pubblicato un disco. Ha costruito un ecosistema narrativo, un’opera totale che tiene insieme due volumi autobiografici fiction/fact‑based e un CD che ne amplifica la risonanza emotiva."
